Animals, including horses, are as vulnerable to illness and injury as the average person. Those risks are even greater where a show horse or racehorse is concerned, because they live much more active lifestyles. Unfortunately, medical care is also similar to human medical care in that it can become very expensive. Of course, it depends on the specific condition, but even a seemingly minor problem can be costly to treat.
